Matt Brown is the Senior Pastor of Resurrection Brooklyn. He and his wife, Deb, met while attending college in New York and doing youth ministry together in Brooklyn. After Matt graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in 1996, they were married and moved back to New York where Matt served as Associate Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Rye, NY for seven years. They returned to Brooklyn in 2003 and live in Park Slope with their three children: Flannery, Charlotte and Walker. Matt is an avid sports fan and will root for the Boston Red Sox until the Dodgers return to Brooklyn.
Marc, a native of Queens, graduated from Dartmouth College in 1998. After spending time abroad in Germany and working as a consultant in Boston, Marc ended up in Washington D.C. He spent 5 years there on staff with FOCUS, a para-church youth ministry for independent school students. Once he had his fill of paintballing, adolescent drama and summer camps, Marc heeded his growing desires to return home and to serve the churches of NYC. His first step towards that end was enrolling at Princeton Theological Seminary in 2007. Being close to New York City made Princeton a perfect vantage point to both study and take bites out of the Big Apple.
Mercy Team Coordinator
Mary Zimmerman coordinates the Mercy Teams for all of Resurrection Brooklyn’s congregations. She has a heart for mercy, a tongue for nagging and a deep commitment to community. She has been a member of Resurrection Park Slope since its beginnings and is married to the very patient Christian Zimmerman. Together they love to cook for friends and anyone else they can get to sit down and eat.
Steven serves as Resurrection Brooklyn’s Youth Director. While a native from Brooklyn, He moved to Orange County, CA in 1996 and attended Calvary Chapel Bible College and their School of Ministry from which he graduated. He is currently a student of Biblical and Theological studies at Nyack College and has aspirations for attending Seminary. Steven has a desire to disciple and cultivate youth who seek spiritual disciplines together through their liturgical formation, which encapsulates our catholicity as communicated through our creeds and catechisms.
Katie McNamara is the design director at Resurrection Brooklyn. She has been obsessing over our branding since 2012 & has the pleasure of working hands on with each of our 5 congregations for their unique design needs. Katie is from west Texas but has been making a good life in Brooklyn for over 8 years with her history teacher husband & wild son. When Katie isn’t mocking up a new design project she loves to get outside. Nothing thrills her more than a long hike & a swim in the ocean—although perfectly kerned type is a very close second.
Rebecca is the communications director for Resurrection Brooklyn churches. She moved to New York in 2011 to attend The King’s College where she received a B.A. in Media, Culture, and the Arts. She has been a part of Resurrection Clinton Hill for two years where she is particularly dedicated to the Racial Reconciliation Group and the three- and four-year-old Children’s Church class. She is currently pursuing an M.F.A in creative nonfiction writing at The New School and has worked in communications at various nonprofits for the past three years.
